For this reason, it has been chosen by the samurai caste to decorate their weapons and shields with its image. In Japanese culture, it’s associated with loyalty and honor, as well as strength. The bride enlists the wedding party to fold 1,000 cranes and the groom offers one extra crane to increase good fortune.
